The Assembly is the statutory body representing the interests of all members in the University’s Education and Research job family (Professors, Readers, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Senior Research Fellows, Research Fellows, Research Associates, Clinical Directors and Consultant Senior Lecturers).

Academic Assembly meets twice per year; the dates for the forthcoming academic year are:

  • Wednesday 30 October 2024 - 12.30pm - 2.30pm
  • Tuesday 29 April 2025 - 12.30pm - 2.30pm for the Vice-Chancellor's address

The Assembly discusses relevant academic issues of University life and passes motions forward to the University’s Senate, if it so decides. It can also express an opinion of any matter related to the University. In addition, the members of Academic Assembly elect representatives to the University’s Senate, Council and Court.

Sabina says “Alan has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of the Assembly and to implement the review committee’s recommendations. He leaves an Assembly which is in good shape for the future. I will strive to make the Assembly flourish further and will continue the efforts to increase members participation in its business”.

Sabina first joined the University as a postgraduate student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1997. She returned to Bath in 2006, having left to take on a Lecturer post at the University of Bristol in 2001. Sabina has held a number of positions, including Director of Studies, Senior Tutor and Director of Teaching, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
