Help us research the effects of stress and mindfulness on decision-making
We need volunteers to be part of our research study into the impact of stress and mindfulness on decision-making. You’ll receive £12 for completing the study.
What this study is about and how to take part
This study will investigate how stress impacts people's decision-making. We hope to uncover some of the mechanisms that underlie mental health difficulties in which decision-making is known to be a possible factor.
What you’ll do
You will complete a task that will mirror a daily-life experience, and be asked to make decisions about different social scenarios.
You’ll be randomly allocated one set of circumstances in which you will complete the task. These are:
- under mild stress
- after performing a mindfulness task
- in neutral circumstances
Each one of these tasks will last 15 minutes. Throughout the session, you’ll wear an electrocardiogram (ECG) device that will measure your heart rate.
After completing some questionnaires and the initial task, you'll be asked to complete a decision-making task and a memory task.
Eligibility
To take part in this study, you must be:
- at least 18 years old
- able to read and understand English
What you’ll get
You’ll receive £12 for participating. If you are a University of Bath student, you may be eligible for three research credits.
Application deadline
We are recruiting volunteers for this study until 31 March 2025.
