The University of Bath has been ranked in the top 150 universities in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings 2025, published today.

It’s the second year in a row that Bath has featured in the top 150, which places it in the top 10% of universities globally.

Published by higher education insights and analytics provider QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the ranking is a key measure of universities’ quality and effectiveness and helps students around the world to make choices about study destination. A total of 5,663 institutions were evaluated and 1,503 were included in the ranking - 90 of which are in the UK.

The ranking rated the performance of institutions in areas such as research and discovery, employability and outcome, learning experience, global engagement and sustainability.

Bath maintained its score in terms of academic reputation, which evaluates the perceptions of global academics on which institutions are demonstrating academic excellence.

The University is particularly pleased that we have increased our ranking in Sustainability, climbing 224 places since last year, now placing Bath at 92 in the world. This score evaluates the social and environmental impact of universities as centres of education and research. Bath scored highly in each of the three performance categories of Environmental Impact, Social Impact and Governance.

Bath continues to perform well in terms of employer reputation, being ranked 109 in 2025.

Professor Ian White, Vice-Chancellor and President, said: “We were delighted to enter the top 150 universities globally in 2024, and to retain this for the 2025 rankings demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering excellence across our education and research.

“Our top 100 world ranking in sustainability has also been a real highlight this year.

“We are far from complacent, however, and know we have much work to do to maintain and indeed enhance our activities in the years to come to match the level of our ambition internationally.

"My sincere thanks to our staff and students, and to our partners across education and research, for their invaluable contributions to our shared success.”

The University of Bath is ranked 6th in the Guardian University Guide 2024 and 8th in both the Complete University Guide 2025 and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. It was also named 'University of the Year 2024 for Graduate Jobs', in the Daily Mail University Guide 2024.
